what's on your nightstand?

this week we're talking to kate from for me, for you. and i couldn't be happier. because if i had to choose one word to describe for me, for you it would be: charming. when you read kate's blog you feel like you know her. and she's sharing all her cool secrets with you. like when kate recommends a certain place to eat. let's say rye in brooklyn. she makes you promise you'll eat the meatloaf sandwich. now. tell me that's not sweet and charming! one of my favourite things about for me, for you is kate's bits of my weekend. i live vicariously through each amazing photo and every bit of glorious food she's eating. i mean. check out this brunch! also. kate has a fantastic jewelry shop. where she makes the loveliest necklaces around. and every time she sends out a note saying hello. there's more for sale. the internet goes a bit crazy and everything sells out in an instant. i've said this before elsewhere, but due to the fact that you go to bed every night and wake up every morning to it - your nightstand should be something you want to look at that often! it's one of the few places i'm rather diligent about keeping clean and clear of clutter. what's always there is my vintage lamp (thank you ebay), my (slightly pathetic) jade plant hanging - to free up room - in a pigeon toe ceramics planter, and a lovely chunk of cave calcite in a cool vintage class container i bought in the great etsy shop from gray to gold. i'd like to think they all contribute to a little serenity in my life. 

rotating constantly are netflix dvd's - most recently grey gardens and badlands (both recommended!), new york magazine (the only one i subscribe to), jewelry making supplies for those nights i really need to be comfy in bed while i knot and braid, a humongous glass of water, my iphone, and sometimes - when she thinks i'm not looking - wendy.
