what's on your nightstand?

this week we're meeting up with jane & her nightstand. jane from ill seen ill said. jane's blog is something i've read for a little while now and i have to say, her daily dose of inspiration is pure heaven. ill seen ill said is a combination of fashion, design and photography goodness. plus jane has a thing for poems. and she shares all the good ones. i dig that she anchors all the pretty things in life with the written word. ill seen ill said is the perfect blend of art director meets copywriter. and every time i read jane's blog i think, well seen well said jane! more importantly i'm always glad i stopped by. because i have a sincerely wonderful, lovely and captivating time. thanks for sharing jane xo

when kate asked me to be part of her nightstand series, i was instantly delighted. but, soon thereafter i stumbled on my first dilemma: which nightstand? i've never really firmed up on a side of the bed. thankfully, i live alone so this isn't a huge issue. truth is, i usually sleep in the middle of the bed. (you see, there are some small consolations for the single gal!) but this is the bedside table i use the most.

the other dilemma is the state of my bedroom. i have a big decorating plan for my 2010 bedroom, so i am not entirely happy with the current arrangement. but, i believe you've got to embrace where you are as much as where you're going, so i'm going to share anyway. right now, my nightstand is a tray table that i bought at caban here in toronto.

the framed photo of my grandparents is always close at hand and i love the words on the rob roy lasercut. magazines and books are essential bedtime treats, as is fragrance, whether from flowers or candles (the "j" candle is from anthropologie, the incense from l'occitane).

the notable absence is an alarm clock. why? because i keep it in my hall closet for two reasons: first, i hate to hear ticking when i'm trying to sleep and, second, so i have to get out of bed to shut off the alarm. in theory, it's a good strategy, but somehow i always wind up back in bed.

thanks for asking me to participate kate!

  4. Ha! I have the same issue with the ticking. The getting up part not so much, since having a 5-year-old pretty much guarantees that we'll be out of bed early.

Loved getting a little glimpse of lovely Jane's world. Thanks to you both for sharing!
