Friday

pretty simple

we really like simple christmas decorations. our tree is quite simplistic. white lights. red balls. and a big 'ol gold star. we like that it feels classic and warm and oh so christmas-y. and i'm sure if we had a fireplace. (oh please! one day!) this is exactly what it would look like. isn't it lovely?

holiday cheer up in here

every single time i'm about a minute away from a vacation i get sick. and by sick i mean The Worst Illness That The World Has Seen In Years. i feel like i've spent the past week laying on the couch. in and out of consciousness. and somewhat delirious. and now i'm on day four of The Coughing Fit. the one perk? christian plugs in the tree for me in the morning. and the lights glisten on my sweatpants as i blow my nose for the millionth time. and hack my left lung up.

ahhhh. what a lovely picture.

today i'm saving my strength. because tomorrow i will be out battling the crowds. getting the turkey and all the food i need to make the christmas feast. and what i menu i have planned for this year. i can't wait to get in the kitchen and starting cooking for all my favourite people. but i swear to god. if one aimless man in the grocery store hits the back of my legs with their grocery cart. or if one woman elbows me to get The Last One of anything. i will cough on each and every one of them. and then smile and say happy holidays.

Monday

i'm dreaming of a white christmas

ok. i'm back. papers are written and handed in. assignments are typed and converted to PDFs. textbooks are neatly stacked on the corner bookshelf that is conveniently being blocked by the tree. i'm almost there. only a couple small things to do and my first semester is over. OVER. so while i pull myself together. this place will be in the back of my mind. this perfect cabin where i'd love to spend christmas. with all our family and friends crammed under one roof. eating turkey sandwiches and playing guesstures.
